Lift Them Up

Posted on April 22nd, by Eric Lucas in Uncategorized. No Comments

We are all familiar with human tragedies the cycles of poverty and despair wreck on people we know and care about and upon complete strangers. The problem is vast and exacerbated by a weak and recovering economy. Much is being done to meet the challenges head-on yet the problems remain without an definitive end in sight.

Homelessness, hunger, and other struggles are real and immediate basic needs of people just like you and me. What more can be done?

In a two-pronged approach, Lift Them Up(TM) provides a much-needed solution. Deliver against the immediate needs with programs to support basic needs like shelter for families in need. Address the longer term issue by supporting education – specifically helping to inspire education attainment. Help the people today. Inspire them to greater destines and a brighter tomorrow.

Go-Gurt – Portable Yogurt

How does Yoplait go from being a perennial also-ran to dethroning Dannon for the yogurt title? BIG Innovation. I broke the (cup) paradigm with packaging to target a new market segment – kids. A new market segment was born with a blockbuster $100+ million business. The rest is history.

Resting on new product innovation laurels is never a good thing. The lesson here was lost – actively seek out the next market segment – BEFORE your competitors (Greek Style, Activia) do.

No doubt, the reinvention of the fragmented and poorly innovated cottage cheese market is taking place now with Greek Style yogurt – without the curds. Think about it. The newly created yogurt segment is the perfect hybrid – leveraging what’s great about yogurt while I improving upon key barriers to cottage cheese (curds, taste, variety, and branding).

Millsberry.com

In 2003, there was not an abundance of sites for kids on the web. Certainly, there were a few sites by cartoon equity companies that featured games for kids to play and interact with those characters. They were equity character-centric and less about the kids and their own senses of identity and community.

Hence, Millsberry.com was born as a kid-centric web environment where kids could create an avatar likeness of themselves (a first in the industry), get their own virtual home, then earn points to furnish their homes with pets, furniture, fences, gardens, etc.

They were also educated on the food pyramid at FDA.gov and incentivized to virtually feed their characters with nutritious food choices. The performance statistics were astounding:

– Top 25 Global Website for Total Pages Served
– Averaged 73 Pages Per Visitor
– Averaged Over 30 Minutes Per Visitor

A staggering 1,000,000+ high school kids drop out of school each year. The national drop-out rate is a whopping 28%. Almost 1 in 4 White students and almost half of all Black and Hispanic kids quit school before earning their high school diploma. In most cases, their future lives are predictable statistics.

They will be less likely to be homeowners, more likely to become homeless, incarcerated and on a track to less lifetime income and shorter life expectancy.

What can be done to help inspire current students to graduate from college and inspire school drop-outs to resume their education and become future graduates? Introducing Future Grad(R) – a new brand and platform for a revolutionary marketing campaign. Stay tuned…
